Wildlife tracking and discovery (summer-fall)

GUIDED FOREST OUTING

Wildlife Identification and Discovery of the Boreal Forest!

Accompanied by our naturalist guide, take one of our outings to discover the boreal forest, its fauna and flora, including the identification of signs or trails of various species.

By reservation only, you will be introduced to locating and tracking techniques, in addition to discovering the natural features of the balsam fir-white birch Montmorency Forest and the vocation of this research and teaching forest. The most commonly encountered animals during the outings are moose, beaver, porcupine, fox, hare, loons, waterfowl and birds of prey, as well as an opportunity to see black bear, timber wolf and lynx.

Périod : June to November 

Duration : 3 to 5 hours

The activity includes:

  • Outing / Hiking (by vehicle and on foot, depending on the route chosen by the guide)
  • Accompaniment by our naturalist guide.
  • Right of access.

What to bring:

  • Clothes and boots appropriate for the season. Sombre-coloured clothing made of quiet (ie. non-abrasive) fabrics
  • A light snack and water. IMPORTANT: Depending on the departure time, bring a lunch or order one in advance when you register as our cafeteria is not open during the day. Check the cafeteria’s hours of operation before your arrival. 
  • Your camera!

IN CASE OF BAD WEATHER?

The event takes place rain or shine. Only the guide can cancel the activity due to special situations or extreme weather. Should this occur, the activity is transferable or refundable.

12 y-o + (child that can be patient and stay silent for a long period)

The price includes transportation in the forest and the loan of a pair of binoculars.

A minimum of 6 people is required (maximum 12 persons per guide).

Wear clothing made of dark, silent fabrics appropriate for the season and bring a light snack and water for the hike. Don’t forget your camera!
