(Reservation required!)

The Montmorency Forest is offering an activity that combines the outdoors, family time and a chance to harvest your own Christmas tree in the heart of the logging clearings and the boreal forest!

Dates : December 1st to 21st, 2019

Upon arrival at reception, make sure you consult the attendants. They will provide you with the necessary information, a map and equipment. Please note that this is a family activity and the cutting site is 2 kilometers from the pavilion. Please note that the tree that you will cut is a natural balsam fir that grows in the wild, which is very different from the commercial trees you find in the city. Your tree will be a real Christmas tree!

What to bring:

  • Your snowshoes (snowshoes are available for rental. Prices here)
  • Lunch and/or snacks and water.
  • Appropriate clothing for winter sports and for the season.
  • Your camera to capture the moment!
  • If you have young children with short legs, plan ahead and bring a sled for the trip back to the pavilion. Count a good 2 to 3 hours for this activity. Departure before 1:30 pm recommended.

Ropes and accessories needed to transport your tree on or in your vehicle. Please not that we do not offer packaging service.

The activity includes:

  • The loan of a handsaw, a sleigh, a small shovel and rope to cut and carry your tree back to the pavilion.
  • The choice of tree (selected from among the pines at the cutting site, recognizable by the long pink ribbon attached to the designated trees.).
  • The right of access.

Did you know that ….

The tree you cut is the fruit of the ecosystem management of the Montmorency Forest, the largest teaching and academic research forest in in the world! Enjoy your forest visit arranged by the Faculty of Forestry, Geography and Geomatics Laval University.

Price for 2019: $ 36,06+ taxes for a family of 4
