1 day Winter School Program

Participants in this natural environment educational activity enjoy a guided hike in the woods around Piché Lake.

WINTER

Program objectives:

Discover the climate and natural features of the Boreal Forest at the Forêt Montmorency, as well as the adaptation of the fauna and flora in the winter. Discover a model of sustainable forest management, the "mosaic forest", inspired by the natural dynamics of the Forêt Montmorency’s Balsam Fir - White Birch ecosystem. Various indicators demonstrate the quality and diversity of this managed forest.

SPRING-FALL

Program objectives:

Discover the flora, fauna and natural features of the Forêt Montmorency’s Balsam Fir - White Birch forest. Witness a model of sustainable forest management, the "mosaic forest", inspired by the natural dynamics of the Forêt Montmorency’s Balsam Fir - White Birch ecosystem. Various indicators demonstrate the quality and diversity of this managed forest.

Activity days: Monday to Friday

Capacity: Minimum 20, maximum 100.

The program includes:

  • Reception at the Forêt Montmorency’s main lodge
  • A guided interpretation hike of the Boreal Forest around Piché Lake with several interpretive stations equipped with teaching tools
  • A guided hike in the forest for wildlife tracking and bird identification
  • A hike to the fire tower
  • An evening of tales and legends around a cozy fire
  • At the conclusion of the stay, a round table discussion on the issues related to the management and protection of the Boreal Forest and the Boreal Forest Super Quiz
  • A Loupiloup preparatory activity book for each elementary grade, per student
  • An educational guide for high school students.

  • Discover a sustainable forest management model, the "mosaic forest", inspired by the Forêt Montmorency’s Balsam Fir - White Birch natural ecosystem dynamics.
  • Stimulate reflection and exchange on issues related to the management and protection of the Boreal Forest.

HOURS: 10:00 a.m. on the first day to 2:00 p.m. on the second day.

DURATION: 2 days and 1 night
